Cloud Computing Basics

As the name suggests, cloud computing is a method of using a virtual computer literally from anywhere in the world with the same personalized experience. Cloud computing is cloud hosting taken a step higher.

Using this type of computing you can organize and have access to your data from any computer that is connected to the World Wide Web. Your user account does not exist on any single PC or laptop but on the Web and your data is saved not on a single hard-disk but, again, on the Web. This allows you to share all your data including your movies, photos, documents, etc. with whoever you want and that too instantly.

Interestingly, almost all of us are partially using cloud computing in a way. All our information that is stored on the servers of one or another internet company such as Yahoo or Picasa is actually a part of a cloud-based computing system. This is why we are able to access the data stored in our email accounts from anywhere we want.

Hence, the criteria for information to be called part of a cloud-based system include instant accessibility, transferability and mobility. The best part of it is that all the information that you own at different platforms such as workplace, email, mobile phone and social networks will get synched. Do not be alarmed, what is on the web does not necessarily have to be on display for the public. Just like your emails cannot be read by others, other data too will be protected and will be on display to only those who you intend to show it to.

One of the advantages of the cloud is for business executives. Whenever corporations buy computers they have to buy several different licensed software such as Microsoft Windows, Office and other field specific programs. With the help of cloud computing, executives can gain access to readymade computers that already have all the desired software installed. The most important advantage to corporations in such a case is cost saving. Cloud computing services offer deals at relatively lower costs because of a number of reasons such as large number of customers, low costs and mass purchases by single entities.

However, the issue of security remains a big question mark especially for corporate clients whose data is of very sensitive nature. There are three types of cloud computing services -infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and software-as-a-service (SaaS). The features that a user of cloud computing will be able to enjoy depend on the type of service he or she is using, i.e. PaaS, IaaS or SaaS. SaaS is the most commonly used type of cloud hosting service.

Why Does Windows 7 Take Long to Boot Up and How to Resolve This Issue?

Most people prefer Windows 7 version as this is convenient to use and has many user friendly features. This version is comparatively faster in terms of performance but there are times when the OS is low in performance and is not giving the desired output. It may also take longer than usual to load the OS. Here are some of the possible reasons slow Windows 7 start up and ways by which to improve it.

Why slow boot up?

First and foremost it is essential to pay attention to the number of applications that you are running on your system. The system might slow down in case you are running too many applications simultaneously and it is adversely affecting system performance. Eventually it leads to slow-downs and the booting process is slow. Another possible reason behind slow booting process is system freezes. These might be due to some software errors, malware and virus infection that are responsible for affecting the performance and speed of Windows. Before you embark upon resolving these issues it is important to first diagnose and know what is causing it.

If you wish to resolve this issue with startup speed then there are steps that can be undertaken to solve it.

You can do the following steps will help in speeding up Windows 7 boot:

1. Press Start and reach Search programs and files

2. Type regedit and press enter, in the UAC window press Yes

3. In the registry, locate this subkey: HLKM\ SYSTEM\ CurrentControlSet\ Control\ SessionManager\ MemoryManagement\ PrefetchParameters

4. Look for the EnablePrefetcher and click it

5. Set the value to 2 and press 'Ok'

6. Look for Enable Superfetch and click it open to set the value to 2 and exit

Now whenever you are booting up your computer the 'prefetcher' will help in smooth booting. This function helps in reserving more resources for booting process and in launching applications. So, now when you log in, your Windows 7 will load immediately without freezing and without hampering the booting process.

If you have issues with the OS like compatibility issues, OS installation issues, issues related to drivers and software issues then it is advisable to get in touch with a premium computer support provider. How to Become an Effective Phone Support Technician

Do you want to be one of the best phone support technicians around? Then you need to make sure that you really got what it takes to be one.

Working as a phone support technician is not that simple as what most people think. It might be a bit easier because you don't really have to talk to a customer face to face. However, helping your customer with their technical concerns through phone is a bit complicated if you aren't competent enough. You need to have the right attitude and skills to do the job right. In order for you to become an effective phone support technician, here are some of the simple do's you can follow.

· Have the Right Knowledge. You will only be an effective support technician if you actually know what you're doing. Getting the right knowledge and ideas you need is definitely that easy. Take time to attend trainings that your office is providing. Make yourself fully equipped and be able to give the right assistance to your customers.

· Your Attitude is everything. If you are working as a phone support technician, you will definitely receive calls from customers who are having problems. They will not bother to call you if they don't have one. In that case, they expect you to somehow give them the empathy they need. Putting yourself on their shows is the main key. Try to feel what they feel and you'll know how to deal with them.

· Don't hear them, but listen to them. That's right. Listening is different from hearing. Listening requires proper understanding on your part. You might be hearing what your customers are saying. But if you won't bother to listen, you will not be able to give the right help they need. One important thing is to avoid making your customers repeat themselves. Asking the same questions more than twice is always a no-no.

· Give instructions clearly. Since you will only be helping a customer through the phone, you need to speak clearly and precisely. Walking someone through to do something by simply giving them instructions is never easy. If you don't give clear instructions, your conversation will not be going anywhere. For instance, you wanted a customer to turn off a modem. Do you even know how to instruct him clearly of where the switch is? Your instructions should always be clear enough to comprehend.

As a phone support technician, you always have the greater responsibility of helping the customers in the best way you can. Then your competence, skills and attitude should work together to be effective.

Working as a phone support technician is not that simple as what most people think. It might be a bit easier because you don't really have to talk to a customer face to face. However, helping your customer with their technical concerns through phone is a bit complicated if you aren't competent enough. You need to have the right attitude and skills to do the job right.

Is Traditional Boxed Software Heading For Extinction?

Hello Everyone,

I was sitting here thinking about a few trends that are happening within the technology world and one thought kept on coming up in my mind. And that is the increased adoption of app stores in technologies we are currently using. From now all Apple products using the "App Store" to Google Android devices using the Android Market. Just recently announced was that starting the next version of Windows, Microsoft will implement its own app store called the Windows Marketplace.

What brought this question into my head was that during a recent visit to Staples, I noticed is that the isles that used to go for one third of the store for computer software is now getting smaller and smaller, and I see that trend just continuing industry-wide. And that is why I am posing this question "Is Traditional Boxed Software Heading For Extinction?"

Now I know you are all reading this and want to know where my opinions are on all of this and where I stand on all of this is that app stores are a WIN, WIN, WIN on all sides (Except for virus & malware creators). And my reasoning for this are as follows:

1. It drastically simplifies the whole software install process - No more trying to figure out if your computer is compatible with a specific program. The app store program is constantly running a check against all programs on the app store to see if it will run on your device. If it is not compatible, then the specific app simply will NOT show as an option to install at all.

2. It drastically reduces the chances of getting infected with Viruses & Malware - For program writers to be even have a chance of getting their applications into a specific app store, all of the app stores mentioned previously take extensive steps to make sure that the apps people purchase from their app stores are free of anything that could harm the purchaser's devices. If a submitted app is found to be or potentially malicious, It is IMMEDIATELY removed from the store and if it is installed on a device, the program is also removed from the device.

3. It makes recovering and upgrading your device a much less painful ordeal - We all have instances where we either had to reinstall everything from scratch on our device for one reason or another or just want to upgrade to a better device, there is always one issue that comes up. And that issue is that all of the software that was purchased will not work or is missing on the device. With purchasing all of your apps from the app store, recovering those apps are now a point and click operation. Now what you do is that in case of the Apple's App Store, all you will do is sign into the app store, single left click on the purchased link, and all of your previously purchased apps will show up in a list. Single left click on the install button and the app will be installed back on your device. In case of the Android Market, purchased apps will be listed under the "Not Installed" section. Just single tap on each one of those and the app will then install back on to your device. All you now have to worry about backing up is your individual documents.

Also, with the trend of going to ultra-mobile devices such as tablets and cellular phones and also computer manufacturers phasing out of the desktop and laptop markets, I really can see a day in the near future where we will not see a software section in most electronic stores. That alone sounds very strange to me, but time will bring about change.

Who Uses Hidden Cameras?

Did you ever wonder who really uses hidden cameras? Do you think only certain people have a need for them, like men or women who want to catch their spouse cheating, a convenience store owner to stop shoplifting or a burglary, or only detectives?

Actually, more people than you'd expect use them. Trying to catch a cheating spouse is the #1 reason for getting a small hidden camera for home use.

Some other common uses include checking up on a babysitter or nanny (is she taking good care of your child or is she abusive or just lazy and indifferent?), the cleaning lady (is she really cleaning or is she stealing your stuff?), a contractor in your home while you're gone (is he watching your big screen TV most of the day instead of working?), or your teens (what time do they come home from school, are their friends messing up your home, what are they doing while you're gone?)

While your home surveillance systems work to prevent a break-in, the best spy camera tucked away can complement your system by providing eyes and ears. A security system can't see or hear what's going on in your home or place of business, whereas a mini wireless spy camera located in a high traffic area can tell you more. Some may even have audio, but this may be illegal depending on where and how you use it, so make sure you check on this.

If you suspect an employee is coming into your private office and stealing petty cash or snooping at files, then a piece of secret spy gear strategically placed will catch the culprit.

Back to the cheating spouse reason; think about when and where the "crime" might be taking place. It may not always be in the bedroom. Also think about time of day because some cameras are equipped with night vision lenses to provide a better picture. A secret audio recorder may also work.

There are also some fun reasons to use a mini spy video camera. Fun with your friends or kids at different events, making silly home movies, and so on.

Spy gear cameras can be part of everyday household objects, like a clock/radio, air freshener, or a teddy bear, or for a business, hidden in an electrical outlet, exit sign or emergency lights. No one will ever suspect that they're being watched until they're caught!

Everything You Post On Social Media (Twitter, Facebook and MySpace) Is Not Private!

Social media (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and many others) has forever changed the way that people communicate with friends and family near and far. On a personal note, social media has helped me keep in contact or reconnect with family and friends I haven't seen in a long time. But for every good with anything, there is also a bad side when using social media.

Such as two students being recently expelled from school in Atlanta for posting a false comment on Facebook about their teacher being a pedophile, to people losing their jobs because of posts about their boss or employer. Colleges and employers are now checking out people on Facebook (including ALL posted pictures) to gauge their character before hiring them for a job or accepting them into their college. Law enforcement are also using Social Media for locating and apprehending people for various crimes. Social Media has also put gasoline on the fire of many relationship problems and/or divorces in the past few years.

My clients and other people have asked me all the time "Are my posts private?" And my answer is usually "Not Really". Please allow me to explain:

1. Google and Other Search Engines will ALWAYS Locate Your Social Media Profile.

Next time you are on a computer, do this little experiment. Go to Google and type your name in the search box and single left click the "Google Search" button. Your Facebook, Twitter or any other social media profile will ALWAYS be one of the first things that shows up in Google before anything else.

2. No Matter How You Set Your Privacy Settings, Certain People With Certain Credentials Can Have Full Access To Your Profile At Any Time!

With the Stored Communications Act of 1986 - Section 2703, Paragraph (B) - Which states that a governmental entity may require a provider of remote computing service (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, etc) to disclose the contents of any wire or electronic communication. In addition, without required notice to the subscriber or customer, the governmental entity can obtain a warrant issued using the procedures described in the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure (or, in the case of a State court, issued using State warrant procedures). This one section makes it legal for certain people to have FULL access to your social media profiles NO MATTER HOW YOU SET YOUR PRIVACY SETTINGS!

3. Plain And Simple, People WILL Talk And Gossip!

You will not believe how people are connected to each other these days. One person could connect up to five or more people in different circles, and some connections are made in ways that you may never know existed. You will clearly see this on a profile where it states that you have x amount of mutual friends, or on Twitter where the profile will say that you both follow X. And when you post something about another person, it tends to spread around and possibly back to the original partie(s) really, really fast. REMEMBER, this is the Internet, where information is created and shared by EVERYONE!

In conclusion, social media websites can be an excellent tool for communication (especially for small businesses), but before posting that negative comment, PLEASE keep in mind that major consequences and repercussions may happen to you, because of what you are about to say.

USENET for Families

USENET can be a tremendous educational resource. There's a great deal of information out there about the perceived dangers to kids that USENET poses and, unfortunately, that gives people the absolute wrong impression about this service. There are some basic guidelines to using that parents need to follow to ensure the safety of their children, but they're not really any different than the sensible rules that parents follow when they're helping their kids learn to use the Internet. Here are some things to remember.

1. Family Activities Should Be Done Together

You should no more let a young child onto the USENET unsupervised than you'd let a young child out on the streets unsupervised. This is basic common sense. The USENET, like every other computer network, does have its hazards. Making the USENET a family activity is the best way to make sure it doesn't become a problem.

2. Dangers Tend to Be Exaggerated

Remember that sensational information tends to be repeated over and over again, particular on the Internet. You'll also want to keep in mind that many of the people that write about the dangers of this or that technology have no qualifications to be writing or reporting about it beyond being easily frightened by urban legends. If you take a look at some of the science and art newsgroups, you'll soon see that the majority of participants are normal folks and that quite a few of them are highly qualified people who like serious and enlightening conversations.

3. It's a Great Forum for Exploring Interests

Those aforementioned experts can be great resources for learning about some pretty complex topics. If you and your family are taking up a new hobby, such as exploring the natural world, literature or astronomy, you'll find plenty of newsgroups available to help you get the most out of your endeavors.

If your kids have access the computer when you're not around, then you might want to get software that allows you to control which programs can be run on the computer. The USENET system itself, however, is generally a very safe and enjoyable way to network online and to get solid information about a variety of topics. If you're interested in getting a subscription to it, there are plenty of providers and most of them will let you give it a try for free. This makes it a no-risk proposition and allows you to choose the provider that's best for you.

Is USENET Too Technical for Me?

Not everyone is comfortable using new technologies. In fact, for some people, finding where they get on the Internet on their computer is still something of an accomplishment. The USENET system sometimes gets passed by because it seems very technical in some regards. It's not. If you understand the following, you can understand the USENET system.

It's Different from the Internet

This is the first thing people usually want to know. The USENET is a different system than the Internet. The USENET is carried over news servers that are dedicated to newsgroups. It's an older system and has been in use since the 1980s. It's also a very well organized system and the names assigned to newsgroups are more reliably accurate compared to their content than are the web addresses used by Internet sites, in many cases.

It's Text-Based

When you look at a USENET article, you're just going to be reading text. It's not like the Internet in that it's not a multimedia technology. It can be used to exchange multimedia files, however. You can upload pictures and other materials to the USENET and share them with your friends if you want. It's not uncommon to see people sharing images on photography groups, for instance. You can also give links to material on the Internet, so there is more than one way to share multimedia files.

The Feel is Different

Your average USENET user probably is a bit more tech savvy than your average Internet-only user. This system has been around for a long time and, because of that, still have a lot of people who remember it when it was new on it. This makes it a great place for actual expert advice on technical subjects, which differs it from a lot of the Internet forums out there. On the USENET, you're not going to get half an answer to your question and a pitch to subscribe to another service after it, for instance.

The USENET is definitely its own place and it's one that many Internet users may enjoy exploring. If you're interested in getting a different perspective on communicating over the Internet, the USENET system may provide you with a lot of enjoyable learning experiences. None of them is likely to be too difficult and, really, there's nothing simpler than text-based communication. The USENET is usable by anyone who can operate email or a web browser.

The main reason why your system is working slowly is due to virus infections. These can damage the system and adversely affect system performance. So, you first need to install a good antivirus and then scan your PC for any threats of virus.

Windows Update

You must have observed that while you are busy surfing or working online there are various alerts like Microsoft updates that come up. These updates are launched by Microsoft for OS updates. If your system settings are kept 'on' to receive these settings then this will happen automatically each time you log on to internet.

Registry Cleaning

Corrupted registry is also one of the most common yet prevalent reasons behind poor Windows performance. You need to run a registry scan. This will enable in identifying the problem sectors that need to be repaired or cleaned. But you must remember to take a backup of the system before running the scan or you can lose valuable data.

Disk Cleanup

There are many programs, applications, copies of files and folders that are lying dormant and occupy space on your disk. You should carry out the procedure of Disk Cleanup. To do this you need to go to:

Start>>All Programs>>Accessories>System Tool>Disk Cleanup. Now choose the drive that you wish to clean up. This initiates the process of disk cleanup.

Disk Defragmenter

It is essential to carry out the disk defragmentation process once a while. This is required to create disk space for adding more files and organizing the existing files. This process can be carried out weekly. If you wish to add a new version of OS then you would require to carry out the defragmentation procedure prior to it.

Turning off Features

You need to keep a check on the unnecessary programs that are not required. For example if you have installed Windows 7 OS on your system then check for the Aero feature. This is an advanced feature that is useful for newer systems. On an old PC it will simply slow it down. So, it is advisable to turn 'off' this feature to enhance the performance of the OS.

Upgrading Hardware

Each new version of OS has a minimum system requirement as its efficiency is based on the compatibility to hardware. Before installing the newer version you need to check it. If you have already installed the latest Windows 7 OS on your old hardware then you first need to upgrade the hardware. This will help increase Windows efficiency.

All the above tips will help in enhancing the Windows 7 speed. If you are facing issues with software errors, virus issues, compatibility conflicts and other such Windows related problems then get in touch with a premium computer support provider.

Nikon COOLPIX L120

The Nikon COOLPIX L120 is a unique and innovative digital camera, combining the stylish look of a professional camera with the compact technology of a digital camera. The camera itself has 14.1 mega pixels and it has 21x optical zoom. The modern style and excellent performance of the Nikon L120 leaves it as a very popular camera for first time photographers, but also for people who want high quality images.

The Nikon L120 features a 3-inch LCD screen to view your images in top quality. The screen enables maximum viewing and high resolution colour photos. Another great feature of this camera is its outstanding quality of zoom. With other digital cameras, the quality of the digital and optical zoom often is not great and the image becomes blurred or grainy. However, with this camera, the 21x optical zoom is extremely high quality, and it enables you to catch details far away.

Another great thing is it's easy to use, even though it looks like a professional camera, it does not take a professional to use it. The camera is kitted out with two zoom buttons, one situated at the top of the camera and the other at the side. This makes zooming easy no matter what position your hand is in. Also, the Nikon L120 has a brilliant flash that is raised by pressing a button to the left of it. This flash lights up any photo leaving brighter images.

The camera enables you to take snaps and even videos of any situation. By pressing the easy to reach record button situated to the right of the screen, you can record high quality video with no hassle at all! Also, you can set the camera to take photos of specific things. For example, the camera has a night mode, enabling you to take photos in the dark or at night. It also has a white balance mode for cloud, daylight and fluorescent.

The camera has speakers to listen to your video footage with and the sound quality is also excellent. The camera is very easy to grip as it has two rubber grips, one on the right hand side of the camera to wrap your fingers around, and the other to rest your thumb on to steady your hands. These are very handy as they enable you to take a more accurate and professional photograph.

The unique colours of the Nikon L120 also make it as recognisable as it is today. It can be bought in a sleek black or a vibrant red. The camera comes with a lens cap to protect the lens from damage, and also a camera strap, to prevent dropping the camera. It is quite light for what it does and is also compact if you want to take it everywhere while carrying it around.

Overall this professional digital camera can enhance anyone's photography, with its excellent quality zoom and easy to use flash and buttons. The ability to record on the camera means that you do not have to bring a camcorder as well as a camera, because it displays both of these features beautifully. The size and weight of it makes it easier to carry and transport it, as well as taking photos with it. So the Nikon COOLPIX L120 is the perfect camera for anything and anyone.

Benefits of Cloud Computing

Even though cloud computing is still in its infancy with users gradually discovering it and how it can help them, a number of benefits have emerged. In order to holistically analyze this type of computing, read the benefits mentioned below.

Benefits for CSPs (Cloud Service Providers)

Cloud computing benefits both who use it as well as those who provide it. If you are a CSP (cloud service provider), there are a number of benefits that you will get. Some of them are as follows:

1. Optimum Utilization
If you are on the catering side of the business, your service will be typically be used by a diverse range of users who will use different types of applications, features and at different times and of different volumes. Hence, the load of the hardware will be distributed in different ways and at different times.

2. Economies of Scale
When it comes to cost, this type of computing follows the economies of scale policy. Although fixed costs are high as they are with the setup of any data center. However, the bigger you grow the lesser per unit cost gets. Hence, if you provide reliable service to your customers, your business will flourish with positive word of mouth and marginal cost will eventually decrease.

3. Flexibility
Cloud computing works on virtual servers instead of physical ones. Hence, if the load becomes too much for a particular set of hardware to handle, the data and processes can be easily shifted to another set of servers. Also when the load is relatively light, the load can be shifted to only a few servers while the others can be put to rest for the time being.

Benefits for Users
Users of cloud computing too will it to their benefit in a number of ways.

Low Cost
Since cloud computing is a service, no investment in hardware has to be made. All you need to do is to subscribe to the services of a CSP (Cloud Service Provider). Before doing so be sure that they type of cloud computing you are subscribing to is the correct one for you.

Also, if you run a business, the cost of buying licensed software will go down because of the option Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) cloud computing gives.

Naturally if you have all of your data on a cloud server, you can access it from anywhere and at any time given that the machine is connected to the internet.

User of cloud computing are free of the responsibility of maintaining and upgrading the servers. Unlike how you take care of your computer by running regular security and hardware checks such as Disk Defragmentation and CheckDisk.

As your needs change, you can ask your CSP (cloud service provider) to add different software, licenses and more storage space to your package. This is particularly applicable to small sized businesses.

For more information about Cloud Computing visit Ancoris who are are an authorised Google Apps Reseller offering help with cloud computing and enterprise security solutions.

How to Digitize Your Home Movies

The easiest, fastest and safest way to convert your old VHS, VHS-C, Hi8 or Mini DV tapes is through a conversion service. Enlisting a professional is cost-effective (usually around $10 a tape) and gives you better results since they have top-notch equipment and experience with different types, quality and ages of film.

When looking for the right photo scanning and video conversion service, avoid companies that outsource their work (i.e. send your precious mementos overseas). Also, be sure to choose a company that lets you talk with the person who will be converting your memories. This way, you can directly relay any special instructions or handling requirements and have piece of mind that your keepsakes are in good hands.

Now, some people like to do things themselves and that's understandable. If you have ample amounts of time, some money and can work with technical instruction manuals, you can convert your movies through your home computer. Here's how:

1. First, find a converter. Whether you're trying to convert VHS, VHS-C, Hi8 or Mini DV, you'll need to purchase an advanced digital video converter or ADVC. This vital piece of equipment starts at $165 and can be found online.

2. Find a player for your movies. If you have VHS tapes, you'll need a VCR. If you have VHS-C, you'll need a VCR and a VHS-C cassette adapter. If you have Mini DV or Hi8 tapes, you'll need a camcorder that records and plays that format. These can also be purchased online.

3. Set up your equipment. Follow the ADVC instructions for setup on either PC or Mac, including the attachment of your media player.

4. Import. Mac users will import their movies to iMovie. When you're all set up, open iMovie and go to 'file'. Select 'import from camera'. A window will pop up and you'll choose to import from your ADVC. Press 'capture' in iMovie and play on your movie player. PC users can follow the setup outlined in the ADVC manual, as it differs according to operating system and device.

5. Be patient and resist that urge to fast forward, rewind or pause while you import. Anything you do will be captured in your final, digital product. If you encounter a glitch, consider starting the import over. If at any point your tape becomes tangled or skips, find an expert to finish the job for you. Do not try to get stuck, tangled tape out of a player. Tangled film is extremely vulnerable and can become permanently damaged if handled. VHS-C tapes are more likely to be damaged during conversion due to flaws in their adapters.

6. Once converted and imported to your computer, you'll want to back up your memories. This way, if your computer crashes, you won't lose them. Most people back up to an external hard drive. We recommend both an external hard drive and cloud-based storage. External hard drives crash often and diversifying your storage with a safe, private, online option increases the likelihood that your memories will be around for future generations of your family.

Digitizing your memories means you can more easily view and share them, bringing them up on your computer or TV any time you want to reminisce. So once your library is digitized, be sure to enjoy it often.

When Will the iPad 3 See the Light of Day?

It's hard to believe but the iPad 2 has only been released for a year. It seems like it's been with us forever already. Everyone's been talking about it since the day it was released.

Even today, everyone is still drooling over the iPad 2. More and more apps are getting released each day and more and more people sign up for an Apple ID. Apple's hold on the tablet market is tremendous. It seems like even if Apple does release the iPad 3, the iPad 2 will continue to sell well into next year. In fact, an iPad that has been refurbished or just well taken care of can have a resale value of at least $300! That's an impressive price.

If you don't remember, Steve Jobs introduced the iPad 2 to the world back in March 2011. Now, people are speculating that the iPad 3 is coming in March, to coincide with the first anniversary of the iPad 2.

There are many reports that say the iPad 3 will arrive in March. The news website "allthingsd" reasons that since Apple still isn't holding an event this February, expect that there will be something in March. Here's what they had to report on the matter:

"Sources say the company has chosen the first week in March to debut the successor to the iPad 2, and will do so at one of its trademark special events. The event will be held in San Francisco, presumably at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Apple's preferred location for big announcements like these."

There are plenty of rumored features of the iPad 3. One of the most notable rumors is that the tablet will feature a screen all the way to the edge. Other speculations to be included on the iPad 3 are a sharper screen resolution with Retina Display, 4G speeds, NFC connection and 3D features.

Will 2012 be the year of the iPad 3? We can only wait and see what Apple has to say. The March event might even be delayed, as the company has recently been under a lot of fire for their labor practices. When the New York Times reported the harsh working environments of Foxconn employees in China, the world took notice. CNN even interviewed an 18 year old employee, describing the working conditions there.

One group even campaigned against the cruel business practices of Apple. It garnered at least 300,000 signatures. Because of tremendous pressure, Apple's current CEO, Tim Cook took action against these allegations.

He said that he would coordinate with the FLA to conduct audits on their Foxconn suppliers. This will show transparency for Apple, because they're famously known for being a secretive company. We'll see an update in the coming weeks regarding this matter.

If you're waiting for the iPad 3, then it's just around the corner. If everyone's hunch is right, then Apple will announce something big in the following months. Expect the world to change again this year.

Most Recent Low Cost Android 4.0 Tablet From Samsung

Without any controversy, technology is the vehicle transporting man into another standard of living. It has unearthed better ways of personal and organizational management, taking the sweat away from work. From portable Personal Computers, the whole goods are now looking slimmer and more versatile.

More notably, the infusion of iPad from Apple Company set the tune for a round of technological ingenuity from other giant tech companies like Samsung. Just recently, precisely February 13, 2012, when most people around the world were preparing to embrace Valentine's Day, Samsung announced the availability of the all new Low Cost Android 4.0 Tablet. With a 1024 by 600 megapixel resolution, a 1GHZ dual core processor, and a prominent 7-inch screen for viewer's pleasure, it happens to be Samsung's latest plus to its array of tablets.

Furthermore, the Android system also has a dual function version, which can pass for a phone and also a browsing pan. This version is based on 3G, and employs the use of High Speed Packet Access to keep consumers versatile. With regard to thickness, the system is just 10.5millimeters, and has a weight of 344 grams. Those measurements make the Low Cost Android 4.0 Tablet somewhat smaller than the iPad 2. There is also 8G-32G MicroSD card port storage integrated into it. The battery is designed to last for 39 hours, with a 4000 mAh battery power.

However, consumers are turning their skin inside out with anger on a product that has hardly touched the ground. Torn apart when comparison is allowed with other similar products like the Asus ME370T, which utilizes the all important Asus transformer, Samsung "low cost" Android 4.0 Tablet, which goes for a whopping $350, might likely suffocate in the sea of competition. Already, consumers have stated the need for "Sammy" to break the price wings if they want to see any form of patronage. While Samsung may have a reservoir of answers as to why such price is slapped on their latest brainchild, considering an already dense market, the fact remains that the response of customers is what counts for the success or failure of any product.

With this information at heart, you can run your search online for similar products from other giant manufacturers so you compare prices before making a purchase. We all love to see "Sammy" make good application of technology to achieve a global village; however, that will never be achieved if we would be made to pay through our nose.

Slow Computer Performance - 3 Things You Need To Check When Your Computer Slows Down

Slow computer performance is the bane of all computer operators today. On the first day we start operating our brand new computers they seem to start losing their performance edge. At least, this is how it seems. When a PC's performance becomes so slow we seem to always be waiting for something new to be popping up on its screen, it is very frustrating for us. So what can we do about this slow computer problem? In this article, we will talk about three things you should really check into as your computer starts to lose its speed.

One of the problems we have is the fact the computer world seems to keep growing up around our computers. In other words, on the day we purchase our computer it is able to accommodate everything the computer realm has to offer. A case in point is; I have a computer that is two and half years old. At the time I put it into service it was truly speedy. I believe it was the fastest computer you could get. However, back then I never downloaded video or worked with video in any way. Now, because I do, I need a faster computer. This is one aspect to why our computers seem to continually be getting slower.

3 Things that Strangle Computer Speed and Performance

Another reason why computers seem to get slower is because they actually do when they develop one, two or all three of these three things:

· registry corruption

· spyware or viruses

· driver mismatches

Registry corruption is a problem that develops inside of any Windows operating system. It happens from everyday usage and is not an indication that we overused or used our computers improperly in any way. However, registry corruption typically develops and when it does it makes our computer perform more slowly. There are cases, where it can actually make a computer crash and/or become incapable of booting up. So registry corruption is a problem we must take seriously and by far and away the best way to get rid of it is to use a capable registry cleaner.

Spyware and Viruses are Dangerous in Many Ways!

I don't imagine your computer is not protected against spyware or viruses. Spyware, as its name implies spies on your computer habits and in extreme cases can steal sensitive information from your computer. This can lead to your banking account being compromised. A little less serious, though equally as aggravating is the fact spyware and viruses can make your computer very slow. They can also go as far as making it inoperable. Obviously, the antidote for these things is to use a good spyware/virus cleaner.

Device Driver Problems

Not as popular, but still as important is the fact device drivers become outdated or mismatched after we upgrade our Windows operating systems. In other words, Windows updates sometimes leave device drivers in the dust. This means every once in a while it is wise to run a device driver updater, which is also known as a driver scanner. Like registry corruption and spyware and viruses, mismatched or outdated drivers will make your computer perform slowly.

Though there are other things that can cause your computer to stutter and stammer along, these three things; registry corruption, viruses or spyware and driver mismatches are the leading three offenders. As bad as they are, living with these problems is not all that difficult these days because we now have computer programs, namely registry cleaners, virus cleaners and driver scanners to take care of them for us.

You've learned a lot about registry cleaners, what they do and why using them is necessary in order keep your computer operating at top speed. Now see how to get a free scan with a Microsoft registry cleaner that also eliminates viruses and spyware, updates drivers and even includes a defragmentation program. This software is highly rated by computer technician Ed Lathrop. Get a Free Scan at Microsoft Registry Cleaners. Action Cameras on a Budget - The Best Buys For Under 200 GBP

Some people use action cameras on a regular basis, even as part of their profession if capturing HD footage for professional sports movies, for example. In this instance investing in a top of the range, full HD action camera is fully justified.

In contrast, for the casual part-time user, action cameras are arguably more of a luxury than a necessity as they may only be used a handful of times a year. For some, this can make it difficult to justify spending hard earned cash on a top of the range action camera, such as a GoPro HD2 or the new Drift HD.

Thankfully, for those on a slightly tighter budget there are some great alternatives on the market. Here are some of the best action cameras available for under £200.

Bullet HD lite 720p (£119.99)

The Bullet HD Lite is the little brother of the revolutionary Bullet HD Pro helmet camera. Being small and light, the Bullet HD will go virtually unnoticed when mounted on a users' helmet or goggles, making it ideal for those who like to keep their kit light. What the Bullet HD Lite lacks in size, it makes up in functionality, with a resolution of 720p @ 25fps (frames per second), 5 megapixel images with 3 second burst mode and a 135 degrees optical wide angle lens to capture an excellent field of view. The Bullet HD Light only has one button, making it extremely easy to use and a variety of included accessories allow a wide variety mounting options. For those looking for a feature-rich, entry level action camera without breaking the bank, look no further than the Bullet HD Lite.

Bullet HD Onyx (£164.99)

The Onyx sits in between the Bullet HD Lite and the daddy of the Bullet family, the Bullet HD Pro 1080p and offers the best of both worlds when it comes to functionality and affordability. In keeping with the HD Lite, the Onyx is ultra-lightweight and small enough to mount anywhere virtually unnoticed. The Onyx boasts 720p resolution at a rate of 30fps (slightly more than its counterpart) but what really sets the Onyx apart from the Lite is the ability to capture 12 megapixel photos - a revolutionary feature. The Onyx is a great mid-level action camera.

GoPro HD Naked (£199.99)

The GoPro HD Naked package is, as the name suggests, void of accessories - you just get the camera. However, when that camera is a GoPro Helmet Hero, the lack of any bells or whistles is fully justified, because for what the Naked lacks on the outside, it more than makes up for inside; with full 1080p HD recording, 170 degree wide angle lens and 5 megapixel still image capture. The camera also has a 60fps filming option available at 720p for slow motion editing and is waterproof to 60m. While the Naked doesn't come with any specialist accessories or mounts, it does include a basic Curved Adhesive Mount and a GoPro Waterproof Quick-Release Housing, so you will be able to use the camera out of the box, albeit to a limited extent. The Naked is a favourable package for those who wish to grow their action camera toolkit over time, adding accessories and mounts as and when they can afford to, or feel the need to.

Looxcie 2 (£149.99)

The Looxcie 2 is a wearable, mobile-connected camcorder that automatically sends footage to your chosen social networks or email as and when it's captured. The Looxcie 2 is super-simple to operate and very lightweight (22g) so can comfortably be attached to the user's ear, hat or clothing, allowing a great point of view recording perspective. Better still the Looxcie is totally hands-free and there's even an a downloadable mobile application that can be used to control the device. Users can choose to capture video in 320p or 480p and store up to 5 hours of video footage on the device itself. While the Looxcie will struggle to withstand the physical strain of high-impact action sports, it makes a great gadget for capturing and sharing the unmissable moments in everyday life.

All of the action cameras described above are excellent value for money and ideal considerations for those on a budget. While price is an obvious factor when purchasing an action camera, ultimately, your choice of camera should come down to its suitability to the job at hand.

Submitted by Matt Taylor, Marketing Manager at Action Cameras. For more information about the Bullet HD, GoPro HD and Looxcie action cameras and the accessories and mounts available for them, visit

Caring for Your Electrical Equipment

If you want to preserve the life of your belongings and keep it working properly, you need to be willing to change some of the bad habits you may have acquired over the years and incorporate some new ones into your daily routine. Part of being a savvy and conscious consumer is knowing how to purchase quality materials and knowing how to take care of your electrical equipment. Failure to properly care for these possessions will end up costing you more money in the long haul.

Due to inflation, if you have to repurchase any of your items, don't be surprised to see that you will pay more for the replacement than when you originally purchased the product. If you want to avoid having to foot the bill for a replacement that could have been avoided, then you should consider learning how to care for your materials properly.

The first step to caring for your things is to make sure that once you have finished using it, you clean the item off before putting it away. The way that you would cleanse it all depends on what type of item it is. If you are not sure or familiar with how to care for your belongings, check your instruction manual for the manufacturer's directions.

These types of possessions vary so much in their function and capacity that it would be impossible for you to figure out how to clean and care for each individual one. However, there are some simple guidelines that can be used for most appliances so that they last longer and provide the same kind of performance as they did when you first purchased them.

Storage can play an important role as to how long your things will work. If you are not storing them in dry places that will not interfere with their function, then you can expect to be making a trip to a hardware or supply store fairly soon. You can also expect to shell out some major cash for a suitable replacement. Make sure that when you unplug your item and it is not going to be used anytime soon, you wrap up the cords and keep them out of harm's way.

Caring for electrical equipment is something that anyone can do and it only takes a few extra minutes to make sure that everything is properly cleaned and stored to extend the life and performance of your products. If you have some electrical equipment that is need of service, there are places that do repairs and they are cheaper than having to replace a whole item. Many of these companies also offer a warranty to back the quality of their work, which is great for people who have a preference for a particular brand or appliance. You can also go to these service and repair shops to find electrical equipment for sale at very reasonable prices.

Save yourself some time and money by taking care of your property by keeping it cleaned, serviced, and stored away until it is in use. Why spend your money on replacements that could have been avoided altogether?

New Consumer Invention Idea - To Go Coffee Cup With Embedded Wi-Fi Amplifier

Each month, I attempt to come up with 30 potential new inventions, one for each day of the month. Personal Tech devices are always amongst my favorites. Okay so, today, I was sitting in Starbucks peering out the window and noticed a gentleman trying to work on his computer out on the patio, but he had a brick wall between him and the coffee shop, normally he'd have been able to get the signal, but apparently, he wasn't able, so he moved to a different seat to get online.

The other day at another Starbucks, I had noted that someone in their car trying to perhaps get their emails from across the parking lot, they waited until a spot opened up and then drove into the first stall, and started computing on their laptop. Then recently, I noted a cool little picture in a popular business newspaper of a coffee cup with what looked like it had waves coming up, the article was about the creativity boost enabling writers to come up with better ideas in the ambiance of a coffee shop.

Still, that cartoonish picture made me think about my previous observations and challenges of folks getting Wi-Fi within close proximity but not inside the actual store. So, I thought to myself, well, that it would be an interesting idea to have an actual coffee mug which doubled as a Wi-Fi repeater. Okay so, how might I go about designing something like this you might ask? Well, how about some sort of a mesh made out of carbon nano-tubes and graphene coatings, forming antenna around the insulation wall of the coffee mug? That might work.

Perhaps the coffee mug might plug into a USB port, and it might also allow the coffee to stay hot with a small heating element. They do make coffee cup holders that can plug into the side of your computer to keep your coffee warm. Now then, how much would something like this sell for you ask? Well, most of these coffee cups which are pretty nice sell for about $15, it's a pretty big markup, it is significant profit item for a coffee shop.

Therefore, perhaps something like this might double in price and cost 30 bucks, or sell for $29.95 and perhaps you could buy them on the Starbucks website, or on Amazon? Do I think it would sell? I'm sure it would sell, I'm just not sure how many people would buy it right away. Perhaps someone needs to do a market study on this, and go file a patent. If you'd like to discuss this topic with me in greater detail, I have made a few sketches, but I think you get the idea. Please consider all this and think on it.

The Different Ways IT Companies Provide IT Help

Managed IT service companies are what you can consider the pillar of the most successful businesses in the market. This is because without their help, the systems, networks and databases of these huge conglomerates will not be able to function optimally. And with the influx of problems coming from the client's side, it's hard to imagine how these IT service companies are able to not only keep up but also provide solutions to their clients.

Fortunately, these managed IT service companies have developed a way to provide excellent IT help to their clients: through the different channels of customer support that can address simple to complicated issues that any type of business encounter.

Help Desk

Among all the channels of an IT help company, the help desk is considered as the busiest and most demanding channel. This is because this is the first channel that clients often go to whenever they encounter problems with their systems. That being said, the individuals who work at a company help desk must be proficient in various aspects of the IT field so that they can provide solutions that the clients should do in order to fix the problem.

Client Portal

In cases where the help desk have failed to provide support to the client, the client portal, which is the next channel of customer support is offered. Clients are prompted to file a support ticket, which details their problem, to the customer support of the company. The level and speed of support in this channel is not guaranteed, since the solutions that will be provided mostly depend on the information provided by the client. If the client has been very thorough in describing the issues he encountered, chances are, the solutions will be fast and accurate. If the client has failed to provide any useful information at all, their ticket is either forwarded to the next channel, or the company will urge the client to provide more useful information.

Remote System Management

One of the most effective ways to provide IT help is through the third channel of customer support -- the remote system management. Oftentimes, this is where clients who don't have any idea at all about their IT issues are forwarded. This channel is in charge of checking and solving client issues through a remote connection. By accessing the client's desktop, IT experts who are employed in this channel, find and fix the issue and also make sure that the system will be updated.

Typically, these channels of support would be enough. However, some IT service companies have extended their services to provide quality customer support for their clients. With the help of the company's onsite support, they are now able to perform regular visits to their client's system. Not only that, they also provide IT strategies that would enable their clients to maximize their system's potential. With these IT strategies, big companies are able to lower their production cost and still have a system that is running smoothly.

Without these IT service companies, a lot of businesses are likely to fail.

The Risks of Not Having IT Maintenance Services

In a world where every single company task involves the use of a computer, not having proper IT maintenance services could spell death for your company. You may think that the bundled service provided by these IT companies cost a lot. However, if you look at some of the possible scenarios you might encounter because of the absence of proper IT support, you will soon find yourself changing your opinion about these companies.

Frequent Down time

Because you do not have IT maintenance services, the chance of your system experiencing down times is increased. These down times could result from the very simplest things such as human error to the more complicated issues like network fault. Without an IT company routinely monitoring your system, these problems will not be prevented as it is the job of a managed IT service company to find and solve these issues. Needless to say, these down times will hamper your company's productivity and hurt your profits.

Loss of Data

Another problem often encountered by companies that have mediocre IT support is the loss of important data. This often results from web attacks or hacks that completely wipe out system data. Without a back up, it would be impossible for you to retrieve your data. This will not only render your system useless but might also lead to your company earning a bad reputation. This could be prevented with the help of the scheduled back ups performed by an IT company.

Web Attacks and Hacks

You may not know it yet but malicious people often love to prey on company systems. Without a secured system, your company will be prone to web attacks. Such web attacks are often damaging and could later on lead to more problems especially if a hacker manages to siphon useful data from your system. The important information they get will definitely be abused. Credit cards will be used to purchase whatever they want online. Bank accounts can be used to transfer funds. Identity theft will likely occur especially if your clients are respectable, powerful people in the industry. And the worst part is that once all the information is out there, there is nothing you can do to prevent these people from using it. Not only could this lead to a damaging reputation, this could also lead to potential lawsuits.

You may think that the IT experts that are already in your paycheck would be able to prevent this. But don't forget that the web has so much room for growth. And these malicious people who are intent on stealing data will take advantage of this. Only a company that hires people who continually work hard in adjusting with the new technologies being introduced everyday can keep up with these people. They are people who can provide and constantly reinforce your system's security so that there won't be holes and back doors left for these hackers to exploit.

Sure, hiring professionals who can provide IT maintenance services may cost you some money. But it's nothing compared to what you stand to lose if you do not make sure your company system is protected and maintained properly all the time.

GPS and SatNav - Removing Misconceptions

The Global Positioning System (GPS), originally designed for military use, has, as it has developed, revolutionised the art or skill of getting from one place to another among the general user population. Its development in coverage and reliability along with other technologies has enabled reasonably cheap SatNav systems for general usage, in our vehicles, mobile phones and other applications. Because of its reliability and growing popularity I believe SatNav is becoming widely accepted but without due consideration as to what it is really about. Many misconceptions have grown, some maybe not important, but in some cases having no awareness or the wrong ideas of what you have got or how it works could lead to problems of various severity.

The technology is fantastic but it is not without fault, just like any other technology it can go wrong. So let us remove these misconceptions and try to understand just where it can go wrong and how serious it may be.

First let us look at what SatNav is. We do know but do not really consider it in full. Now this is merely a loose use of words but many say they have GPS in their car. Well, yes they do, but they also have a full SatNav. This involves some method of obtaining position from orbiting satellites, some form of electronic map to put this position on, some software to navigate from here to there, and you may have engine sensor inputs to provide an inertial navigation back up when satellite signals are lost. That's essentially your SatNav system.

It is just a circumstance that the positioning system is mostly GPS. This is just one Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). Others are developed or in development. GPS is just the most commonly used. If you have car SatNav, this, with the inertial back up, if you have it, is what you are using. GPS is also included in mobile phones.

This next could be easy to fall for as the distinction may not be too obvious on your machine. I have heard some claim they can get SatNav on their mobile phone in the cupboard under the stairs. I am deeply curious of what advanced technology achieves this. The signal from GPS satellites is line of sight. An obstruction will block any satellite it is in the way of. A broom cupboard will block the lot of them. Now the mobile can also be located by the cell network. Although not as accurate, defaulting to the cell network when GPS is lost is handy. But, I do not think this can be classed as SatNav. No satellites are being used. That's the, er, 'advanced' technology out of the way with.

So far it is wordage and a bit of a lack in awareness. The end result is that by some method you can get a position. If you happen to be off road and lose GPS it may be important to realise you have lost some accuracy. GPS could be 10m or better. The cell being 50m at best in urban areas, no great problem, but worse in rural areas, maybe a problem.

Another one. There are many who say with pride that they know how GPS works. Triangulation. I believe they fall for this because it's a legacy from before GPS where control networks were surveyed in by measuring angles. A GPS receiver, specifically the antenna, which may or may not be attached to the box, is positioned by trilateration, using ranges. This was harder to achieve with accuracy in those older days.

Also, satellite pseudoranges are not measured directly, hence along with inaccuracies the term pseudo. They are determined from time differences and light speed, more correctly, the speed of electromagnetic waves as the GPS signal is in the radio or microwave bands, depending on who you listen to. The nearly 300 million m/sec assumed in range calculations is only valid in a total vacuum. Some of the GPS inaccuracies are due to varying light speed. Nanosecond accuracy is required. A thousandth of a second error (1millisec) equates to 200 miles or 300km. Not many realise the importance of such small times.

Now accuracy has been mentioned, this leads to my favourite but that is another story that can be found in 'GPS and SatNav. Pinpoint Accuracy Explained' by the same author.

John Maris is a professional navigator and surveyor, offshore and coastal within the Oil and Gas exploration industry. With the increasing use of SatNav among the general user population, in vehicles, mobile phones and other applications, he is attempting to increase the awareness of users of how GPS, navigation and mapping combine to give us these systems. It is a fascinating and fantastic technology but not without its problems. A higher understanding of how it works will enable you to get the best out of your system, avoiding confusion and being misled. If interested in more detailed information then please visit
